- The march will be around 90 minutes (on a trajectory lasting around 3 km). The itinerary is available online. Shade is abundant throughout the trajectory.
- We ask that folks wear a mask, if they can, until arriving at Parc Lafontaine. A “strictly masked zone” at the ‘head’ of the march will be enforced. Anyone who isn’t wearing a mask for any given reason will be asked to keep a distance from one another, and to stay out of the strictly masked zone. Masked zones will be in effect at Parc Lafontaine. K/N95 masks will be provided on site.
- Walking speed will be reduced to around 2.0 km/h to ensure that everyone — including folks using wheelchairs or other mobility aids — can have their place in the march.
- Smoking cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and non-medical cannabis, as well as vaping, is forbidden within 20 feet (6 meters) of the march. Exception: at the tail end of the march, smoking will be permitted, albeit at a reasonable distance between persons. During after-march festivities (including the Transgression show), smoking shall only be permitted at a reasonable distance from any non-smoking attendees.
- We’d like to ask participants to avoid, if possible, perfumes and scented products the day of the march.
- Persons with reduced mobility are encouraged to be at the front of the march (either in or outside of the masked zone), and set the pace for other participants behind them.
- Service animals are all welcome! Please let us know if they have specific needs we should try to accommodate (e.g. having a water bowl ready).
- Emotional support animals are welcome, albeit only if they’re under control and do not interfere with service animals and the march’s general safety.
- All speeches in French at the beginning of the march and during the open-mic, as well as Calamine’s performance, will have LSQ interpretation. No ASL interpretation will be provided; we apologize for not having been able to find any (so far).
- Metro/bus/REM tickets, zones A (Mtl), B (Mtl/Longueuil/Laval) and C (whole metropolitan area), either in pairs or in singles, will be provided to anyone needing them.
- We’ll have mobile water stations for hydration! BRING YOUR OWN WATER BOTTLES, it makes things way simpler for us. We will provide some plastic water bottles, albeit in a limited quantity.
- We’ll have snacks available as we march.
- We’ll have first-aid and naloxone kits. We’ll also have a first aid tent during the Transgression show.
- We will have a support patrol on site, and a wonderful volunteer team, for any help, active listening, and any other needs.
- We will provide wheelchairs on site, and will be able to reimburse the cost of rental of these and/or other orthopedic equipment up to $50 per person. Wheelchairs can be reserved ahead of time here: https://forms.gle/YtaoK5yRV1Voy4ku6
- We’ll have earplugs and noise-canceling earmuffs, if sound is an issue (a march / a protest, after all, is likely to be noisy!).
- Some food shall be served at the end (during the Transgression show) to folks who need it. Unfortunately, owing to logistical concerns, it’ll be impossible for us to feed everyone — but hey, if you need food, come let us know.
Any other accessibility measures you may need? Email us at marchetransmtl@gmail.com to let us know! And before you ask… our sound system this year is way stronger than last year!
